- Identify criminal offenders and unlawful activity and, where fitting, pursue the subsequent court actions;
- Hinder the criminal offenders' opportunity to commit crime by engaging in preventive patrol;
- Assist citizens who are in situations subjecting them to physical harm;
- Protect constitutional rights;
- Facilitate the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles through proactive traffic enforcement;
- Assist those citizens who cannot care for themselves through referral to outside community agencies;
- Educate the public about crime patterns and criminal habits through the publication of a monthly newsletter and the sponsoring of community educational programs;
- Identify situations that are potentially serious law enforcement or governmental problems;
- Promote a feeling of security in the community;
- Preserve civil order;
- Provide miscellaneous emergency services; and
- Pay particular attention to the needs of senior citizens and juveniles.
