1. Identify criminal offenders and unlawful activity and, where fitting, pursue the subsequent court actions;
  2. Hinder the criminal offenders' opportunity to commit crime by engaging in preventive patrol;
  3. Assist citizens who are in situations subjecting them to physical harm;
  4. Protect constitutional rights;
  5. Facilitate the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles through proactive traffic enforcement;
  6. Assist those citizens who cannot care for themselves through referral to outside community agencies;
  7. Educate the public about crime patterns and criminal habits through the publication of a monthly newsletter and the sponsoring of community educational programs;
  8. Identify situations that are potentially serious law enforcement or governmental problems;
  9. Promote a feeling of security in the community;
  10. Preserve civil order;
  11. Provide miscellaneous emergency services; and
  12. Pay particular attention to the needs of senior citizens and juveniles.
